Our 5 types of talent assessment
The science behind Potential
Our talent assessment platform provides insights across five key areas:
Aptitude
Big 5
DISC
Learning style
Archetype
Aptitude assessment
Our computerized adaptive aptitude test measures a person's cognitive abilities, soft skills and fluid vs. crystallized intelligence, as well as their propensity to learn and apply new skills. Built in consultation with a Professor from the University of Sydney, the test adapts to each person’s ability as they progress, so every testing experience is unique.
Potential People Insights delivers a rich, seven-construct cognitive assessment, far exceeding the standard aptitude trio of numerical, verbal and abstract reasoning. This groundbreaking approach captures the multidimensional nature of human aptitude in relation to the digital skills needed for the future of work. Unlike conventional tests that offer a singular, composite score, our aptitude test defines distinct scores for seven critical constructs.
Big 5
Potential People Insights leverages the globally recognized Big 5 personality traits testing model to understand an individual’s suitability for a team, role, project or career pathway based on the characteristics required. The Big 5 personality assessment measures five key traits, each comprising of six facets, allowing managers to – in a snapshot – understand an individual’s personality type and predict their response to new tasks and working environments.
In a team context, the Big 5 model provides insight into a person's underlying motivations which can be used to guide them towards greater productivity. Having an informed understanding of each team member's personality traits allows leaders to tailor their management style to build more cooperative and efficient teams. Commonly used in the military, the Big 5 model also reduces risk when identifying the best talent for targeted development towards leadership roles.
DISC
Built upon the existing DISC behavioral model, Potential People Insights' extended DISC profile system measures an individual’s favored behavioral style in the workplace and identifies strengths, motivators and how they prefer to interact with others. The assessment also reveals the likelihood of an individual to culturally assimilate into a new role or team and highlights top talent for leadership development.
The DISC assessment tests a person's natural affinity for one of four main personality traits: dominance, influence, compliance and steadiness, none of which are considered inherently positive or negative. The extent to which an individual exhibits these traits speaks to their strengths and inner motivations, essential information for leaders looking to build an engaged and high-performing workforce.
Learning style
Our learning preference assessment identifies the preferred learning style of a person across seven specified types: visual, spatial, auditory, interpersonal, intrapersonal, verbal and logical. Insights from this assessment enable leaders to tailor talent development plans to team members' needs.
The adaptation of training and development programs helps maintain employee engagement, boost productivity and improve information retention. Empowering team members with an understanding of their own learning preference also encourages them to seek out research methods and resources that will be of most benefit to them when building their skill set.
Archetype
Our unique Archetypes model, informed by personality testing insights from the DISC and Big 5 assessment approaches, was designed to remove the guesswork around having the right mix of personalities in your people and creativity, agility, and productivity in your teams.
There are three Archetypes: The Doer, the Creator and the Translator, and each of these play a crucial role in team success. The ‘right’ mix of Archetypes required for a team, function or business depends on task requirements, work environment and team or business maturity.

A talent assessment is a process used by organizations to evaluate an individual's skills, abilities and potential to perform in a specific role or within the company. These assessments can take various forms, including skills assessments, aptitude assessments, personality tests or cognitive ability tests.
For internal workforces, talent assessments enable leaders to better understand their team members – their motivations, strengths, weaknesses and preferred working style. These insights can be used to tailor management style, guide professional development, inform training programs and nurture leadership potential.
