Meet Jari

Jari Jewitt is an Anishinaabe, a member of Nipissing First Nation and also from a military family. Following his graduation from Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology, Jari planned to have a career in teaching. For nine years, Jari was working in the public school system of Ottawa, where he taught kindergarten. He had poured his heart and soul into his work. Unfortunately, his teaching career never reached its full potential, over time, he felt his passion and drive waning. Despite his best efforts, Jari felt underappreciated, undervalued and lonely. The time had come to change careers.

Jari's journey

When looking for a job, Jari knew he wanted to work somewhere he was valued and respected. He wanted to be part of a team and help people. One of Jari's closest friends worked for WithYouWithMe. After sharing his situation and how he wanted to change careers, his friend suggested that Jari contact WithYouWithMe.
After signing up to WithYouWithMe's Potential platform and completing the psychometric and aptitude assessments, Jari was recommended a strong candidate for a career as a Data Analyst.

From teacher
to tech

The next steps for Jari were to successfully complete the training pathways for Data and Cyber. Both Joe and Julian on the career success team were encouraging Jari while he studied and regularly checked in with him on his progress.

During one of these check-ins, they informed him of an upcoming squad role on the Canadian federal government contract. Jari thought it sounded great and was excited about the opportunity.

It only took one phone call with Matthew to decide to hire Jari as the Canadian federal government team's new Data Analyst.

A new career path!

Jari is a Data Analyst working on projects for the Canadian federal government. Jari feels as though WithYouWithMe has been giving a new start to his life. He wakes up in the morning and is excited to start his work day.

Jari says, “I had always longed for a job I was passionate about but didn’t know how I could possibly change careers and certainly didn’t think I could break into a lucrative tech career. Then I came across the WithYouWithMe program and that all changed. I completed free online training and very quickly received a call about a role. I interviewed and landed my first job in tech, working as a Data Analyst in the federal government. That was almost two years ago – and I’ve never been more motivated or fulfilled. I’m really passionate about sharing this experience with people."

Leaving his previous career behind was one of the hardest decisions Jari has ever made, but each day he is more and more confident he made the right decision.
