Choosing your next career move can seem like a daunting task, but really it is the first exciting step to your next chapter! There are a lot of things to consider, but it is important to start with knowing yourself, and then knowing your options and learning about each one.
WithYouWithMe wants to take some of the pain away from transition and help you through your journey.
Start by looking at you, learn about your self and identify your skills. What are your personal strengths and weaknesses? What values are important to you? What style of the working and learning environment are you looking for? What sort of activities and subjects do you find interesting?
You can find a large amount of aptitude and personality tests readily available online. The WithYouWithMe testing suite has four tests that you can do which will help you learn more about yourself. These tests include a behaviour assessment, a critical thinking aptitude test, a culture fit assessment looking at personality traits, and a learning styles assessment. Each of these tests individually will give you valuable information which will help you learn more about yourself. Together the tests allow us to suggest your suitable career pathways. Testing is important to help select a pathway that matches who you are, your motivation, workplace cultural fit and longevity of career. It is critical that you feel excited, happy and satisfied with your employment. We spend one-third of our time at work, so you want to pick an industry and workplace that is right for you. Take the time to learn about your self, and the career pathways you are suited to.
Know your options
Once you understand yourself and what you are suitable for, you need to know your options and learn about each one. There is a lot of information available about labour market data and future trends, and you can do your own research. WithYouWithMe has done extensive research when planning career pathways to support and training options to provide.
In today’s rapidly shifting global job market, industries are continually being redefined, resized and reshaped. Sourcing and understanding the latest labour market is essential to career planning. Almost two-thirds of employment growth is projected to be in four sectors: health care and social assistance; construction; education and training; and professional, scientific and technical services. WithYouWithMe recently released an education report that lists the high growth jobs over the next five years: civil engineering, ICT management, graphics and web designers, early childhood teachers, registered nurses, software engineers, management and organisation analysts, environmental scientists, physiotherapists, database administrators, system administrators, and ICT security specialists.
Automation is on the rise and will replace a large percent of the workforce. The reality is some jobs will no longer exist, new jobs will be created and most jobs will undergo some form of change. The skills we need for work are changing. But, you can plan for these changes.
Learning for the future
Achieving a university degree no longer automatically means you will get immediate and meaningful employment. The youth unemployment rate for graduates is increasing at a greater rate than for those without a tertiary qualification. The good news is you do not need a four-year degree to start a new career. Short courses can give you the skills you need to enter the workforce with industry required skills.
WithYouWithMe has short, completely online, and accredited courses in cybersecurity and robotics process automation (RPA). We are about to release our new System Administrator course and Data Analytics course! WithYouWithMe has designed short-online courses that match the future labour market trends, so you can learn skills that will be required not just now, but also in the future. These courses will prepare you to enter the workforce in your new chosen career.
WithYouWithMe is here to help you through your career transition and find your next career. Do the self-assessments, research career pathways, and look at the training options.
If you see or hear about a career pathway you do not know much about, research it! It may be the perfect job for you, you just did not know it was an option. The WithYouWithMe Pathfinder team is always available to discuss your test results and career pathway options with you. If you would like more information about our current Cyber or RPA courses, or soon to be released System Admin and Data Analytics course let me know and we’ll give you a call!
